This week is the annual meeting of the British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic surgeons at the Olympia centre in West London. Mr Topping is a full member of BAAPS which requires the attainment of the intensive FRCS (Plast) qualification to gain membership. Surgeons in the UK train for many, many years to achieve this class leading qualification and many see it as a badge of quality.
The rules in the UK need tightening in our view. A GP can legally do a breast augmentation. Surgeons train for many years to fully understand the anatomy of a patient and to understand the intricate detail that is necessary to perform safe and successful surgery.
During the meeting at BAAPS, Mr Topping will continue to develop his skills by attending lectures from his colleagues from around the UK and further afield. “Learning never stops. Techniques change and develop all the time and the advancement of technology to aid the surgeon means it is an essential part of my role to keep on top of all the latest developments” , says Mr Topping. “Many of the worlds leading suppliers of surgical equipment attend these meetings which allows me to discuss the advancements with them face to face. ”
Mr Topping will be posting on his facebook page about the meeting this week.
